Sis Writing Reset Retreat w/ Dr. Venus Evans-Winters

Dr. Venus E. Evans-Winters is Professor, Director of PhD Programs, and  Program Chair for Doctoral Programs in Leadership Studies in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. A scholar, clinician, and intellectual activist, her work bridges education policy, Black feminist thought, critical pedagogy, and healing-centered leadership. Dr. Evans-Winters is the author or co-author of several academic articles, book chapters, and books, including "Black Feminism in Qualitative Inquiry: A Mosaic for Writing Our Daughter's Bodies" and "Introduction to Intersectional Qualitative Research".

With more than twenty years in higher education and over a decade as a licensed clinical social worker and complex trauma therapist, Dr. Evans-Winters is committed to cultivating learning environments that foster resilience, equity, and liberation. Her research and teaching emphasize qualitative inquiry, intersectionality, and understanding psycho-spiritual and sociocultural processes of resilience of people across the African Diaspora. She also advises national organizations advancing racial and gender justice.  A dedicated mindfulness practitioner, she approaches meditation and running with equal parts humor and determination.
